Director Ruchir Arun believes it’s time for Indian audiences to embrace more emotionally mature and respectful male protagonists on screen. Speaking about his latest romantic drama Musafir Cafe, the filmmaker shared that characters like Vikrant Massey’s Chander represent the kind of heroes modern storytelling needs.

Based on Divya Prakash Dubey’s bestselling novel, Musafir Cafe has been praised for its heartfelt narrative, emotional depth, and relatable relationships. According to Arun, his primary focus while adapting the novel was to preserve its emotional essence rather than create a scene-by-scene recreation.

Talking about Vikrant Massey’s casting, Arun revealed that the National Award-winning actor was always his first choice for the role of Chander. He described the character as a “green flag” man—someone who is emotionally aware, respectful, and compassionate in relationships.

The director emphasized that audiences deserve more romantic heroes who value kindness and emotional maturity instead of relying on toxic or stereotypical masculine traits. He believes such characters are not only relatable but also reflect healthier relationships on screen.
